It has been a very meaty week for yours truly. I sweated out three days at taste of Sydney cooking with the lovely Sam Hayes (female) and her Mirrool Creek lamb and the very nice but not as cute Richard Gunner and his Hay Valley lamb and Coorong Angus beef.

The show was a great success with lots of top restaurants sampling their wares and me demonstrating in the marquee of our chums at MLA. Following the amazing Coorong Angus beef (which it almost seemed a sin to marinate for Jamaican steaks or put into a Thai beef salad) I had a great pasture fed rib eye at Kingsley’s at Wooloomooloo Finger Wharf yesterday. They do know how to cook a steak. Neil Perry’s new Rockpool steak house opens this week and I will be in there for a snoop in the first week. If the Melbourne version is anything to go by it should be outstanding. I shot nearly two dozen new BBQ recipes a couple of weeks ago which should be on the website in the next week so watch out for them. We’ll have everything from really easy cumin and rosemary lamb cutlets to butterflied lamb legs and lots of marinated prawn recipes. I am working with a bunch of like minded guys called the BBQ Kings including my old mate Pat Drummond, who unlike me are all very talented and we’ll have some of their music for you to enjoy on the site shortly. Off to lunch. Talk again soon. Kim Terakes.
