Great BBQ features, my new book and some outstanding Tassie tucker...

The 8 page BBQ feature is in The Daily Tele, Courier Mail and Herald Sun today with the chance to win great prizes from Sunbeam and Masterfoods as well as a copy of my next book, The Great Aussie Bloke’s Cookbook. The first book, The Great Aussie Barbie Cookbook (creative titles, huh?) came second in the Food Media Club awards last week, having already come second in the Gourmand world cook book awards- which makes me the best quinella bet in the world. I suppose that second is better than nothing, but not much. Just back from a family break in Tassie and of course ate for Australia. Very nice tucker at Picalilly in Battery Point, which good judges argue is the best food down there. I also really enjoyed 373 in North Hobart (great beef) and had a perfect piece of very fresh blue eye at Mures overlooking Constitution Dock, but skip the doughy white rolls and tired salads. You gotta love those Tassie pinots too. Last week I had a very enjoyable meal at the new Sean’s at Star City casino with some of the best Spanish ham ever. Murdered a mud crab in XO sauce at Golden Century the day I flew south. The BBQ cooking demos at Harvey Norman stores have been a huge success, with everyone seemingly enjoying the food and Sunbeam selling plenty of their barbies. Cooking lessons in Sydney start this weekend at Easts Rugby Club and next month at Castle Hill Tavern for those interested. Looks like I am going to have miles of media for the launch of the new book at the end of the month with a couple of TV appearances locked in and plenty of radio around the country. So I’m looking forward to trying the best Melbourne has to offer when I’m down hawking the book. Talk more soon. Kim. PS.
