Figs with Prosciutto and Bocconcini

Here’s a terrific mouthful for your guests while they’re waiting to tackle something meatier. Fresh mozzarella (bocconcini) is widely available through supermarkets as well as delis. Italian buffalo mozzarella is much better, but much more expensive. Whatever you do, don’t try to use the plastic-y mozzarella pizza cheese for this recipe.

Ingredients
 
4WholeFigs Quartered or halved if small. 
8WholeBocconcini Cheese Very fresh cherry (small) bocconcini cheese, halved. 
8Slice(s)Prosciutto Paper thin slices, quartered. 


Directions

Place a piece of cheese on top of each fig quarter and grate a little black pepper over it.

Wrap each cheese and fig portion in a piece of prosciutto.

Secure with a toothpick if necessary.

Serves 8 as finger food (16 bite size pieces)
